| We are proud to have been chosen to exhibit and sell the Robert and Gertrude Anderson Collection of Asian art.
With fond memories, I recall Robert Anderson’s visits to our gallery. He came several times a year and was very interested in looking at and discussing the greatest variety of Chinese and Japanese objects of art. His enthusiasm and interest knew no bounds. He showed his civic mindedness in the generosity with which he shared his collections with friends and community through the Orlando Museum of Art. Mr. Anderson had served as president of the Florida Symphony and of the Orlando Museum of Art, and both Mr. and Mrs. Anderson have been leaders in the cultural life of Central Florida.
This collection was assembled and selected with a discerning eye and a wide range of knowledge. Mr. Anderson’s collections included early Meissen as well as export and home-market Chinese and Japanese ceramics. This love for Meissen works of art had a strong influence on the Chinese export wares the Andersons collected. They also had a love of birds as seen by the beautiful bird motifs and sculptural bird subjects in the collection. The collection also includes Japanese bronzes, netsuke and Chinese reversed glass paintings.
